For months now, we've been enjoying Diego's song of "ahhh" that he sings to himself while he plays. This weekend however the consonants seemed to bubble up and explode, now we have "bah", "dah", "ma", "la", "fa" and pretty much every other consonant imaginable....maybe this was a result of him finding his tongue! Aunt Becky visits and other news....
Aunt Becky has come to visit us for her spring break, perfect timing too. Diego didn't have school on Friday due to a teacher work day, so Aunt Becky was the designated babysitter. I like having my sister here, but she taught Diego a new trick that he just won't stop doing! Silly Aunt Becky.
We also had picture day at school last week, who knew they started this so young. Apparently, his teachers got him to smile really BIG, I guess we will find out in a couple of weeks when they come back. Daddy picked out his outfit, which you can see below. The proofs came back today and they are pretty cute...guess we are going to be spending some moolah on pics this month!
We are currently referring to the D-man as Evil Knievel, as the kid just won't stay still and tries to climb everything...your leg, the crib wall, his jumperoo. He also thinks he is a much bigger boy than his 8 months and doesn't want to hold on once he is standing. He's capable of keeping his balance for a couple of seconds now, longer each time. I swear the kid is just gonna take off one of these days.
Finally, I'm now officially in the old category (unless you consider 30 the new 20 like everyone is trying to get me to buy into). Thanks for all of your birthday wishes. AJ and I went out to dinner, and realized how much we miss going out just the two of us. We are going to attempt to have at least one date night a month. My friend Debra babysat for Diego two weekends ago and he did really well, so once a month we get some mommy and daddy time.

Finally!
We have figured out finally that Diego has been crawling, just in an unconventional manner. He's more of a crab walker/ butt scooter, not a true crawler. Guess it doesn't matter as long as it gets him where he wants to go. Additionally, he is learning how to pull himself up in his crib and on the furniture in the living room. He truly wants to walk NOW! Sit down kid! Included are some pics taken at City Park this weekend.

Diego playing...
At last checkup, Diego weighed in at 16lbs and 26inches. Still no forward crawling, he prefers to get on all fours and lunge for whatever is out of his reach. He is however trying to learn how to stand (as you will see below)...perhaps walking is in his future rather than crawling.
