Diego's Swine Flu Vacation

Last week, I had the flu at the same time that Diego's daycare was closed due to a swine flu outbreak in the staff and students and also while AJ was away. Aunt Becky came to stay with me and D. Diego loves his Aunt Bex; he instantly knew her and would rather play with her most of the time than with mama, which was good because I could barely get out of bed I was so sick. Here are some of the fabulous pics that Becky took while she was here.

Diego goes down slide all by himself

This Sunday was a very pleasant day with little humidity. Becky was in town finishing about a week long visit and we all decided to take a walk to the park. Once there Diego decided to show us how a 13 month old likes to go down the slide...by himself! Video taken with iphone so it might be a little choppy.

Another day in paradise....

Another day in paradise.... from kelly franco on Vimeo.

Oh when the Saints!

We took Diego to his first football game last night. Pre-season tickets to the Saints game are dirt cheap and we figured, why not?!?! We got him his own Drew Brees jersey, stuck him in the babybjorn, and walked from mama's parking garage the 4 blocks to the superdome. Everyone thought he was adorable! He loved watching the people, but I'm not sure he watched most of the game. We didn't stay the whole time as it was getting late; his next game will have to be an early one. We had a blast and can't wait for football season to really begin!

Full-speed ahead!

What a difference a week makes! D is walking everywhere. He is still slightly unsteady on his feet, but he recovers pretty well. In another week, I'm sure he will be running. Here are some pics of the little monkey (whose new favorite pasttime is hopping on pop, as well as reading with daddy).

It's official....

He's a toddler! His teachers said that his practicing at home has paid off this week, today he walked around the classroom instead of crawling to where he wanted to go!

Additionally, he is adding to his vocabulary. Mama and dada are everyday words, anything round is a "ball", we hear a lot of "uh-oh" whenever something is dropped or he knows he has done something he shouldn't, and he likes to make fun of anyone who sneezes by imitating their "atchoo." We are working on duck, dog, bye-bye, baby, hi and anything else that matches the syllables coming from his babbling little mouth. And, finally, the best news of all is Diego is sleeping thru the night....all mama can say in Hallelujah!

Here are some shots of the ham (notice that they are suddenly in focus, we had to break down and replace the stupid camera!).

Diego's "besitos" often turn into nibbles with his stuffed animals.

Apparently, Diego's love of hugging extends to toilet paper rolls!

Smile for the camera! Yes, there are 8 teeth now, and his canines are trying to make their way thru on the top as well!

Dare, I say...Diego's first attempt at "blue steel' ?!?!?

Sprinkler Day, Part 2.

Thought I'd add this video that Kelly took with her digicam. The aspect ratio is a little jacked up, but it's still pretty good.

Sprinkler Days!

Diego's daycare center has been putting out a sprinkler for the kids to run thru every Thursday. Diego mostly likes the water (unless Mama is there, or he doesn't feel well and then he isn't so sure). The last time he had to have his teachers run him thru, Miss Cassie (black shirt) and Miss Kelly (gray shirt).

But today Diego couldn't wait to get his hands on that sprinkler (in fact he got a kinda rude awakening when it was turned on)!

Today, the oldest kid in his class, Claiborne, who fancies himself the class mother, noticed Diego's shoes had fallen off and attempted to help D put them back on! TOO CUTE!
