Diego's latest update

At his last appointment, prior to Thanksgiving, D weighed in at 13 lbs and was 24.5 inches. I'm pretty sure he's even bigger now, probably closer to 14 lbs, but we will find out in a week and a half. He is a child with many tricks these days... he easily rolls over both ways (although he refused to show his grandparents in SF). He will be crawling any day now, as he can already scoot himself on his belly all over his mat and can support his upper body on his hands and get his legs underneath him with butt in the air separately, but not quite both together yet. He prefers to stand up to any other position and will LOUDLY let you know how he wants to stand (don't turn the kid away from a football game, or you will really get it!). He has found his favorite new playtoy....his feet, and we started him on cereal the day before Thanksgiving and are slowly working him up to other solids (he doesn't much like the spoon, as you can see, but loves to eat off my finger, also he doesn't use his high chair quite yet, this was a test). Finally, the kid is teething and is miserable. I think he has a few coming in, two top and one bottom, but its hard to tell. I hope they've broken through by Christmas. You all forgot to warn me that teething babies like to gnaw while breastfeeding....OUCH!

Rock Band!

While Rock Band has been Alier's latest addiction for a while now, and yes I play on occasion too, we exposed the rest of the family to its hilarity. The best part was that Alier created rock characters for Dominic and Justin and they wanted to be called by their rock names. Too cute!

Thanksgiving!

We celebrated Thanksgiving at Tia Sha's house with a wonderful meal (that I didn't have to prepare....YEAH!). There were so many people there including Diego's Great Great Aunts and his cousin Roger III, who is two weeks younger than Diego and as cute as can be....look at all that hair!

AJ and KR visit Stinson Beach

While in San Francisco, we left Diego with his grandparents and took a day trip to Stinson Beach along a rather windy highway. We also stopped in Muir Woods, which Alier had never been to. Both very beautiful despite the dreary weather.

Diego finally meets his grandpa!

We traveled to San Francisco for Thanksgiving where Diego finally got to meet Grandpa Franco, as well as many of his other relatives in the bay area. I'd have to say it was pretty much love at first sight for both!

This past month has been crazy, with Diego getting sick and preparing for our Thanksgiving trip to San Francisco, I've barely had a spare moment. We have lots of new pics from SF and I promise to get them posted by the end of the weekend. As a teaser, here are some pics of the little guy that his auntie Nydia took (do you notice a theme?). Yes we can.....

Yesterday was a momentous day in our household for many reasons. First, Diego, after weeks of almost getting there, rolled over, to great cheering from mom and dad. He continually astounds me as he develops. He is so strong for a little guy, you should see him try to stand up. He wants to walk now, rather than later. Everything he does, he does with a smile on his face.

Secondly, our country came out in record numbers and voted for a man who represents change, better relations with the rest of the world, a better future for our planet and our children and who finally personifies all of the minorities who have struggled so long for representation in this great country. For the first time, since I turned 18, I am not disappointed. We proved the pundits wrong, race isn't as big an issue in this day and age as it once was. This country is a melting pot of all kinds. I am proud of how this country voted and came together to elect this great man. Now I just hope that we together with Obama can work to make this country the great nation it once was and I know it can be.
