Our Saturday......

Tia Daisy and Tia Mercha arrived on Friday to spend some time with Grandma and us, so we decided to take a trip out to Houma to visit a plantation there. It was very beautiful and everyone enjoyed the tour, except me and Diego. He didn't seem to enjoy either the tour guide or the house, so mama and he sat out in the gardens. We were enjoying the grounds until one of the house owner's golden retrievers decided to take a bite of my elbow. So the rest of the afternoon was spent in the emergency room; no stitches, no infection, one tetanus shot, free admission and lunch on the plantations owners. As you can see I have a little scratch. Guess I'll stay clear of strange pups from now on. On a happier note, the darned cable company down here forgot to shut off our college gameplan so we were able to watch the Buckeyes have a stunning win over Wisconsin even though our local ABC channel wanted us to watch the USC game (boo-hiss).

Grandma comes to visit!

This past week Grandma Franco finally got to meet Diego! The little guy has been spending time in Grandma bootcamp, as she attempts to get him ready for daycare, which begins next week. So far he is eating and sleeping better during the day, YEAH GRANDMA!

Diego's first trip to the Quarter

This past Saturday Dan, Becky, Kelly, Diego and I all went to the Quarter. It was Diego's first time out and about in the city and also his first ride on the streetcar. He was fascinated by everything he saw and was constantly looking everywhere.

Back in NOLA.

We made it back to the city yesterday afternoon. The city looks pretty good, in fact the storm helped to prune a lot of the live oaks throughout the city. Our place wasn't damaged and we had power, cable, and internet. I don't think that Diego enjoyed the ride back as much as the ride out. Mental note, he likes evening drives better than day rides.

Not much else to report other than we are now obviously watching to see what Ike is going to do later in the week.

Safe and sound in Columbus

We arrived yesterday around 2 pm. El Diego's grandparents were quite happy to see him and he got to meet his Uncle Dan, as well as his Great Grandfather, Poppy. Diego also met his Great Uncle Sam and Aunt Jessie.

Today Diego is going to meet even more family. He has gotten bigger and is able to hold his neck up longer and longer. His head is still bobble-head like, but he's definitely getting stronger.

Our drive north was fairly uneventful. We left Friday ahead of all the evacuations and El Diego simply fell asleep for the majority of the drive.

Hmmm...I don't think we're gonna stick around to see if the forcast is accurate. Looks like El Diego is gonna have his first road trip.

Big Boy

Yesterday, Diego took his first trip to the grocery store. So, we got him all dressed up for the occasion, including socks and shoes. Too cute! He slept the entire time.



We've also been attempting to find a cute hat in our vast amount of clothing that fits his tiny noggin. This was the closest we came!


My mother brought my old chime ball down to me the last time she was here and we have been putting it near Diego in hopes he'd play with it. This morning I put him down after his breakfast and he wouldn't sleep so I gave him his chime ball and his Pooh bear and went to wash dishes. When I came back, he was laughing and talking to Pooh and hitting his chime ball to make the rocking horses move and the chime sound.
